To fill an automatic transmission with fluid, the first thing you need to do is find out what transmission fluid your transmission needs.

Then check the transmission dipstick with the car running, There should be two sections, hot and cold, if you do this right after you drive you car, pay attention to the hot line, if you just started you car, check the cold line.
It is very important that the car is running or you will overflow your transmission, There should be two lines and should be labeled with where the fluid should be, If the fluid is below this line, slowly start filling the transmission and checking the level. After you get in between the lines, stop filling and your transmission should be good for awhile.
